OUR RELIGIOUS EDUCATION PROGRAM

The schedule for our religious education program is as follows:

Grades 5 & 6 meet on Mondays from 3:45-4:45, Grades 1 & 2 meet on Tuesdays from 3:45-4:45, and Grades 3 & 4 meet on Wednesdays from 3:45 - 4:45. We follow the North Providence Public School Calendar with regard to holidays and snow and emergency cancellations.

Confirmation classes are held on Sundays from 5:45 - 7:00 p.m. with occasional Youth Ministry nights running from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. This presents the perfect opportunity for students in grades 7, 8, and 9 to attend the 5:00 p.m. Sunday Mass before class.

Here at Mary, Mother of Mankind parish, we view religious education as not something that takes place just one hour per week at class, but as a partnership with parents, grandparents, and other family members in which our Catholic Faith is lived out every day of the week, and one in which the highpoint of the week is family Mass attendance and participation. We welcome all new parishioners with open arms and encourage our students to become involved in parish activities.

We are fortunate to have an extremely successful Youth Ministry program that is conjoined to the Confirmation program, the goal of which is to keep our young people involved after they have received the sacrament of Confirmation, as well as provide them with the opportunity to socially interact with their peers as they engage in fun, entertaining, and edifying activities and community service projects. For more information on our Youth Ministry program, please call the rectory at 401-231-3542.

                                         VOLUNTEERING

If you would like to volunteer with our Religious Education program, please contact Bill Kirejczyk, our Religious Education Director for Grades 1-6. Volunteers, especially parents, who practice their faith and are able to effectively share the knowledge of their faith with our young parishioners are always welcome in our program. We like to keep our parishioners involved and volunteering with the Religious Education Program.

Safe environment training: As mandated by the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, and in cooperation with the Diocese of Providence Office of Education and Compliance, all Mary, Mother of Mankind parish employees and volunteers receive Safe Environment Training to ensure that all young people in our parish come to know God and His Church in a safe and appropriate setting.

The Diocese of Providence also requires mandatory background criminal investigations for those who work with children and young people. Only those who successfully pass a background check are permitted to serve as volunteers.
